Since the time I was little, I've always had a way with words.
With a family like mine, you sort of have to.
Between my mom's bold and brash Irish roots and my father's six Italian brothers, I grew up surrounded by a lot of noise. Add on the fact that I'm an identical twin, and I guess you could say that from a young age, I was desperate to find a voice.
So instead of joining the shouting match, I started putting my thoughts on paper. From reading Keats and Shelley on my uncle's hearth as a child to writing spoken word and short stories and poetry of my own, my love affair with words grew and flourished. And suddenly, I found I actually had quite a lot to say after all.
Now the real trick is getting me to shut up.
Because writing for me isn’t just a job or even a passion. It’s the only way I know how to survive. And with every new line of copy, that little voice is fighting to push its way through the throng; to reach out and touch someone and make an ad feel truly human— if only for one glorious, fleeting moment.
Or, you know, something like that.
my flashlight went out 40 feet under the Caribbean Ocean in a school of tarpon
a Scottish sailor gave me barbecue and a secret tour of an 800-year-old abbey
I (unofficially) broke a Guinness world record with my identical twin
